Board of Trustees & Corporation
AOSR is a non-profit, independent day school in Rome that is governed by a 12 member board of trustees. The Board of Trustees is responsible for appointing the Head of School, strategic planning, and fiscal oversight of the school.
The AOSR Board of Trustees, as an independent, non-profit entity, delegates management to its only employee, the Head of School, who is the Executive Officer for AOSR and is responsible for implementing Board policies, the school's curriculum, personnel and programs.
The Board of Trustees adheres to standards of good practice in governance established by the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS). This includes exercising fiduciary oversight of institutional performance. The Trustees serve as volunteers without compensation in any form.
The AOSR Board of Trustees currently consists of 12 voting members plus the Head of School, who is a non-voting member. Trustees are elected to a three-year term and may serve for a maximum of three consecutive terms. The Board of Trustees meets eight times per year.
