Meet the Elementary School Coordinator
Ms. Susan Prideaux
A native Australian, who completed elementary school in Malaysia, Susan Prideaux graduated from the University of Melbourne with first class honors in German and philosophy. She received a Diploma in Education from the University of Melbourne and a B.Ed. from Deakin University. Her teaching experience in Melbourne was in an inner-city public school.
During her long career at AOSR she has taught at many levels of the Elementary school and this background and wealth of knowledge about the school allow her to assist the elementary school principal, teachers, students and parents in her role as coordinator. Her aim for each student is for them to reach the highest achievement possible in literacy and numeracy. Students are encouraged to be successful learners, confident and creative individuals, and active citizens in the school community. The wide range of nationalities in the school allows students to easily obtain a global perspective which is so necessary in today’s world. One of her passions is to inspire students to develop a deep interest in history and the fact that the school is in Rome makes this quest feasible. This desire to instill curiosity in the students is a legacy from Mrs. Madeleine Fabris, a former Elementary school principal, who was teaching history when Ms. Prideaux joined the faculty in 1978. When alumni return to visit AOSR they often have vivid memories of their field trips in elementary school.
