How do I start the application process if campus is closed?
First, review the information in the "how to apply" section on the Admissions page. Then, simply begin your application! We have a digital application system which makes it easy for families to complete the application and our Admissions Office to review them!
How can I tour the school if campus is currently closed?
While campus is unfortunately closed to students and faculty at the moment, our Admissions Officer would be happy to give you a virtual tour of the school. She can "walk" you through campus and explain our programs, facilities, and the activities that your child might be interested in. Once our campus reopens, we will be happy to schedule an in person visit.
How can I meet with the Admissions Officer if campus is closed?
The Admissions Officer is available by phone or email and will respond back to you in a timely manner. She is also available to have a virtual meeting with you and your family. Once campus is reopened, we would be happy to schedule an in person meeting with the Admissions Office.
Are admissions decisions still being made even though campus is closed?
Absolutely! Our Admissions Office is working hard at the moment to process many applications and get students enrolled as soon as possible. The admissions team is currently working digitally on applications.
How long will I have to wait before I know if my child has been accepted for admission to AOSR? Will campus closure prolong the process?
Once all required documentation is received, the Admissions Committee reviews the application. A decision is made as soon as possible. The processing time has not changed due to campus closure.
Do you accept students during the school year? Can my child be enrolled even if campus is closed?
Yes. Students are admitted to AOSR throughout the school year on a case-by-case basis. Students accepted to High School should plan to start at the beginning of an academic quarter or semester. For a detailed schedule, please refer to the 2019-2020 Academic Calendar or to plan ahead for next school year, the 2020-2021 Academic Calendar. The Admissions Officer can answer your questions about when your child may be enrolled individually. Schedule an appointment to speak with her.
How is learning happening if campus is closed?
Our students have a normal school schedule, but at the moment, all classes are held online until school campuses in Italy are able to reopen. AOSR has developed a very successful online learning platform that provides students with the same level of exceptional education we provide in person.
Will the applicant need to be tested before being admitted? How will testing be done if campus is closed?
Admission to to Pre-K and Kindergarten is based on teachers recommendation letters. Admissions to Elementary School (Grades 1-5) is based on report cards (if available), school records, and recommendation letters. Admission to Middle School and High School is based on transcripts, report cards, school documents, recommendation letters and an interview. Middle and High School students may be requested to take an English language proficiency and/or subject level assessment. English proficiency testing will not be done while campus closed, but we might ask for a video interview. This depends and will be discussed on a case by case basis.
