Welcome to the Junior Varsity and Varsity Basketball teams
Tryouts for both boys and girls basketball teams happen during the first weeks of November, providing coaches a good look at the varied level of experience our student-athletes have.
Basketball is the only DoDDS Europe sport that maintains a full Junior Varsity schedule, allowing younger or less experienced players an opportunity to grow and compete with similar leveled teams from other schools.
Basketball training focuses on the team aspect of the sport, building cooperation, communication and dedication while providing a high level of physical training to prepare our student-athletes for games.
Friday night home games are not to be missed, as a loud and supportive AOSR community packs the gymnasium to watch basketball, the cheer squad, occasional sightings of Federica the Falcon and eat American style concessions at our Falcon Sports Council run concession stand.
The season ends with a four-day tournament in Wiesbaden, Germany, where we face off with teams from around Europe for the divisional title.
The boys team is lead by Coach Phil Davis, in his 20th year. The girls team is lead by ex- Serie A player Coach Carmela Verardi, in her 10th year.

Quotes from Past Players
...When we won Europeans, we were playing not only for our team and our school, but for every single AOSR basketball player before us. To be able to walk away from that tournament as champions changed our lives.
