Coaches' Notes - April 14th, 2018.
On a perfect day in Vicenza, AOSR's Track & Field team participated in their first meet of the season. For most of the squad this was their first-ever attempt competing in their respective events, yet their performances were more reflective of AOSR's most seasoned athletes. Marie-Pascalie B. drove this point home by running her first 200 meter dash in 30.16 seconds and establishing a new school record. Similarly, William D. ran his first 1600 meter race in 5 minutes,18 seconds - the fourth fastest 1600 meters ever run at AOSR and a mere 3 seconds off the school record pace.
William H. ran a very respectable 200 meter time of 27:15 making him the 9th fastest sprinter ever at AOSR. Mailea H. was less than a second off her 400 meter personal record pace (1:14.10) and established a new women's shot put record at AOSR (20'6"). Shakirah A. threw the 4kg shot 19'9" - a scant 9" shy of newly established mark.
In all it was a fantastic effort everyone's part and a wonderful start to the season. Next week the Falcon's Track and Field team will be competing in Naples and will no doubt be setting the bar higher - for themselves and for all AOSR athletes that follow.
