With a focus on the curiosity that this age brings, our Early Childhood Education Program (3-5 year olds) provides our youngest students with a rich and empowering environment for learning. The Reggio Emilia approach offers individualized student-teacher interaction to instill a joy of learning.
AOSR is a fully accredited, American international, independent day school. AOSR offers an American curriculum for students in Pre-K to Grade 12. At AOSR, all students are both challenged and supported to achieve academic success.
The American Overseas School of Rome is a vibrant, open-minded, and caring community from the United States, Italy, and more than fifty countries across the globe. AOSR is proud of its rich Italian heritage and many languages and cultures. We educate our students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12 to continue their studies wherever their travels lead them. Our students are well-prepared to gain admission to universities in the United States, United Kingdom, Italy, and beyond.
The IB Program helps you discover more deeply other cultures and become a more globally minded individual. Although it’s a challenging program, you learn to balance the workload and I have really enjoyed the projects involved.
- Will, Grade 12, IB student
I was always sure I wanted to take IB because I wanted to push myself. The class material is challenging, but with the extracurricular activities, such as CAS, TOK, the various Internal Assessments and Extended Essay, it teaches students how to manage their time and be independent. I know the hard work will pay off. I will have the benefit of colleges all over the world considering my application.
- Isabelle, Grade 12, Ib student
The IB Program has taught me to take responsibility for my learning and to understand the knowledge building process. The IB Diploma is an internationally recognized high school diploma, and therefore I’ve been able to apply for admission to some of the most prestigious universities in the world. I can't wait to meet the future me when I come to the end of the IB Program.
- Costanza, Grade 12, Ib student
we have seen a sudden improvement of our son’s language and spelling capacities, and he was able to fit in very quickly and very well in the new environment! Thanks also to the professional but also warm and caring teachers, administrators, and office staff.
Martina, Current Parent
AOSR has very devoted and competent teachers, and staff. Teachers are very engaged in the students learning and give great help and support to the students. The classes are many times between 10-20 students which I think is a very good size for the teacher to see and understand all students and their challenges.
Peter, Current Parent
We were looking for a medium sized school, a safe environment, a warm atmosphere, an excellent student to teacher ratio, and a really student centered setting. The High School has excellent teachers, grants students the opportunity to choose a curriculum that best suits their needs with the AP and/or IB Program, and has superb varsity sports teams. Teachers make sure to show students that first they are valuable humans, then great learners.
- Adele, Current Parent
The teachers really understand you, and therefore challenge and guide you. The academics are incredibly rigorous, and I know that at the end of my high school career, I will be well prepared for university.
- Carolina, Future IB Student
I’m thankful to be studying such challenging courses. Taking AP's will help me seamlessly transition to university level classes and balance a heavy workload in the future. The topics I’m learning about in my AP classes will give me a base of important knowledge going into the ‘real world.’ I also know that this path will guarantee me acceptance to a great university.
- Angelica, AP Student, Grade 11
There is a huge variety of AP classes compared to my last school, which I'm really thankful for. Next year I will be taking AP Statistics, AP Language and Composition and AP physics.
- Ahmed, AP Student, Grade 10
I'm an AP student. It’s definitely a challenging program but the classes are really well-rounded and the environment is supportive and the teachers really help you. I’m able to balance my academics with many clubs.
