Our Artistic Disciplines:
Band: From brass to percussion, our Band program offers students the opportunity to learn and master a variety of instruments. Students develop their musicality, teamwork, and performance skills, participating in concerts and contributing to a dynamic sound that resonates throughout the school.
Performing Arts: The Performing Arts at AOSR encompass a wide array of theatrical and expressive endeavors. Students engage in acting, directing, stagecraft, and storytelling, bringing captivating narratives to life. Our productions, from dramatic plays to musicals, provide invaluable opportunities for collaboration, confidence-building, and artistic growth.
IB Film: For our High School students, the International Baccalaureate (IB) Film program offers an in-depth exploration of the art and craft of filmmaking. Students delve into film theory, production techniques, and critical analysis, developing their skills as filmmakers and cinematic storytellers. This rigorous program culminates in the creation of original films, showcasing their unique artistic visions.
Visual Arts: Our Visual Arts program encourages students to explore their creativity through various mediums, including painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, photography, and digital art. Students develop their artistic techniques, aesthetic sensibilities, and critical thinking skills, transforming ideas into tangible works of art. Annual art shows and exhibitions celebrate their achievements and offer a platform for their work to be appreciated by the school community.
Choir: The AOSR choir program, as highlighted previously, is a cornerstone of our musical offerings. From the youngest voices in Elementary to the harmonious ensembles in Secondary, students develop their vocal talents, learn diverse repertoires, and perform at numerous school and community events. Special visits from renowned choirs, such as the Dartmouth Aires or the US Coast Guard Academy Choir, provide inspiring opportunities for our students to learn from and perform with exceptional vocalists. The choir participates in Secondary Winter and Spring Concerts, Elementary Choir performances in assemblies, Whole Choir Performances for the US Embassy and Christmas Tree Lighting, and all major Performing Arts Productions, including festive Christmas Singalongs. Even our youngest Falcons in Pre-K share their joy in a Spring Concert, and the choir actively participates in major events like Play4Kay.

- The Black Box Theatre: An intimate and versatile space, the Black Box Theatre offers a dynamic setting for experimental theater, smaller productions, and student-led performances, allowing for close engagement between performers and audience.
- The Performance Center: This dedicated facility provides a modern and well-equipped stage for a wide range of concerts, theatrical productions, and presentations, offering excellent acoustics and technical capabilities.
- Our Outdoor Amphitheater (also known as the Hillside Theatre): Nestled amidst our beautiful campus, this unique open-air venue provides a picturesque and memorable setting for outdoor performances, especially in Rome's pleasant climate, adding a special charm to our events.
- The AOSR Gymnasium: For our largest and most grand events, including major concerts and school-wide showcases, the AOSR Gymnasium transforms into a spacious and impressive performance arena, accommodating large audiences and elaborate productions.
