Talk with the Admissions Team

Apply on OpenApply
Submit your application through OpenApply, our secure online portal. Upload school transcripts and reference letters there; we can't accept documents by email.
Assessment and decision
The Admissions Committee reviews academic records and references and may hold an interview. Depending on grade level, an English proficiency assessment may be requested. You'll usually receive a decision within two weeks of submitting all documents (allow a little longer in July and August).

The best way to know if AOSR is right for your child is to see it for yourself. Join us on campus or online, meet our teachers and ask your questions. Registration is required for every event.
Elementary School (Pre-K to Grade 5)

Frequently Asked Questions
No. AOSR has rolling admissions, so there's no deadline and no waiting list. We accept applications year-round and admit students during the school year, case by case, including families relocating for diplomatic, military or business assignments. For mid-year High School applicants, some courses may already be full.
As early as you can. Starting early gives you time to gather documents, schedule any assessments and get to know the school before your move.
Usually within two weeks of receiving all required documents. In July and August, when application volumes are higher, it can take slightly longer.
Admission is based on academic records, references and, where appropriate, an interview. Depending on grade level, we may ask for an English proficiency assessment to make sure your child is placed with the right support.

Yes. We offer English as an Additional Language (EAL) support for students building academic English. We also welcome students with mild to moderate learning differences, supported by learning specialists and counselors. Please share any evaluations and documentation with your application so we can plan the right support.

We place students by age, using a cut-off date of October 31. For example, your child joins Pre-K3 if they turn 3 on or before October 31 of the year they start, and Grade 1 if they turn 6 by that date. For Middle and High School, we confirm the final grade from your child's school reports, since students may be moving from systems with different cut-off dates. Yes. Lunch is complimentary for students in Pre-K through Grade 3. From Grade 4 to Grade 12, students buy lunch à la carte in the school cafeteria.
For Grades 1–12 school starts at 9:00am and finishes at 3:30pm, Monday to Friday. For Pre-K/Kindergarten, school starts at 9:00am and finishes at 3:15pm, Monday to Friday. An additional bus runs at 5:15pm for students signed up for after-school activities.

More than half of AOSR students play on a sports team, and our Varsity and Junior Varsity teams compete in the DoDEA European League. In the arts, students perform in the Jazz Band, High School Chorus, our School Musicals and the annual Shakespeare festival, and study painting, photojournalism and ceramics. Clubs include Model United Nations, Robotics, Student Council and the National Honor Society.
